Gilded Mercury dime cut-out in resin pendant necklace on 18" silver-tone chain

This unusual pendant necklace is made from a 1939 Mercury head dime. The dime was skillfully cut-out, gilded and encased in a resin and silver-tone frame.

It hangs on an 18-inch silver-tone chain with a round spring-clasp. 

The piece likely dates from the 1970s.
